Semrock, Manufacturer of Biomedical Optics, Adds Braginsky to Board

Rochester, NY - Semrock, Inc., a manufacturer of high-performance biomedical optics, today announced that Mr. Sidney Braginsky, chairman and CEO of Digilab, LLC, chairman of Atropos Technologies, and the former President of Olympus America, has joined the Semrock Board of Directors effective March 10, 2003.

Semrock develops and manufactures high-performance biomedical optics, including the BrightLineTM series of fluorescence filters, which significantly improve the performance of instrumentation and microscopes for both OEM and end users. Semrock's innovative catalog offerings further include the ultra-broadband MaxMirrorTM laser mirror, with utility in a broad array of industries. Semrock's products include exacting filters that until only recently exceeded the ability of conventional coating technology.

As head of Digilab, a leader in the development, manufacturing and marketing of spectroscopy/imaging instruments used in an extensive list of industries, and with his Olympus background, Mr. Braginsky was a natural fit with Semrock. "Mr. Braginsky's valuable perspectives and expertise will broaden Semrock's ability to meet the needs and demands of today's highly competitive markets. Digilab is at work in many industries, including pharmaceuticals, polymers, oils, chemicals, cosmetics, art conservation, foods, forensics, semiconductors, as well as academic and hospital research
laboratories. Digilab pioneered the world's first commercial FTIR spectrometer in 1969 and is still at the forefront of providing innovative products and solutions. Digilab conducts operations globally in the United Kingdom, Germany, Benelux, Japan, and Asia Pacific.

Mr. Braginsky is also chairman of the International Standards Organization Technical Committee 172, which is responsible for the world standards of optical and electro-optical devices.
