Carl Zeiss AG Names Semrock, Inc., Supplier of Fluorescence Filters

Rochester, NY, & Göttingen, Germany – Carl Zeiss Light Microscopy Division, a market leader for biomedical research microscopes, and Semrock, Inc., a leading provider of high-performance optical filters, have signed an agreement for the delivery of optical filters for fluorescence microscopy.

These latest-generation fluorescence filters, made exclusively for Carl Zeiss to their exacting specifications, are based on Semrock's BrightLine™ hard-coated filter technology. BrightLine filters are characterized by extraordinarily high transmission, steep edges and excellent blocking. When these new filters are incorporated into the Carl Zeiss family of light microscopes the result is shorter exposure times and optimal sample protection, especially important for live cell imaging.

The initial agreement between Semrock and Carl Zeiss AG has already led to the delivery of a series of high-performance filter sets designed to precisely match the spectral properties of the most important fluorescent proteins.

In addition to incorporating these filters in their microscope systems, Carl Zeiss now also lists these filters for worldwide distribution.
