| About Semrock |
|
Semrock manufactures, in volume, high-performance optical filters of proven reliability that have set the standard in optical filters for biotech and analytical instrumentation. ALL of Semrock’s high-performance optical filters are made with hard Ion Beam Sputtered coatings – these will not degrade, be sensitive to humidity, or “burn out” with normal use. Semrock supports its market with three product platforms – optical filters for fluorescence instrumentation & microscopy, Raman instrumentation, and biomedical laser systems. Semrock's innovative catalog offerings include: the award-winning and patented BrightLine® series of fluorescence filters, which significantly improve the performance of instrumentation and microscopes for both OEM and end users; highly discriminating RazorEdge® filters for Raman spectroscopy; and the unique ultra-broadband MaxMirror® laser mirror. The versatile StopLine® series of deep notch filters has wide applicability within all three of Semrock’s product platforms, as do the complementary MaxLine® highly transmitting laser-line filters. Our new MaxDiode™ laser diode clean-up filters are specially designed for popular diode lasers and offer high transmission, low ripple, and exceptional noise blocking for the cleanest diode laser output. Semrock first introduced a disruptive technology to Biotech & Analytical Instrumentation by improving and adapting the Ion Beam Sputtering (IBS) process, widely regarded as the premier deposition technology for making the brightest, spectrally most sophisticated and most reliable optical filters and mirrors. IBS optical coating technology underwent dramatic advances when sophisticated high-bandwidth telecommunications applications drove the demand for exacting filters that exceeded the ability of the then-conventional coating technology. |

By further adding many important innovations to make the IBS process suitable for use in Biotech & Analytical Instrumentation, Semrock was able to broadly introduce filters to the biotech field that have set the standard of optical performance and reliability at a level never before experienced by this community. Indeed, Semrock’s advances are such that Semrock has been awarded patents on its products, with more in process, and Semrock products have been recognized with prestigious industry awards. Overall, Semrock filters are brighter, more durable, and spectrally more sophisticated than those made by other coating technologies, thus driving significant customer improvements such as faster measurement times, reduced downtime, repeatable manufacturing, and lower optical component count. Another key Semrock advance was to make its unique products repeatably manufacturable in high volumes, permitting OEM customers to have a dependable supply, and catalog customers to order direct from stock. At Semrock we also adhere to high levels of internal process control and reliability testing that well exceed the norm in the industry. We have passed many quality audits by major OEM customers. But it is not enough to have a superior technology – the filters must be optimally designed to meet customers’ true needs. At Semrock, since we focus all of our efforts on biotech and analytical instrumentation applications, we thoroughly understand our customers’ requirements. We speak your language! This is why Semrock’s products have been incorporated into so many important instruments made by leading biotech and analytical instrumentation makers around the world. |
